Feature highlights PSPA’s early growth and mission to bridge student and professional newsrooms across Greater Philadelphia
PHILADELPHIA – November 29, 2025 – The Philadelphia Student Press Association (PSPA) announced that founder Jackson Juzang was recently featured in Community-Engaged Media Spotlight, a publication of Temple University’s Center for Community Engaged Media (CCEM). The article, published on November 18, profiles PSPA’s formation, rapid early growth, and its partnerships with news organizations across Greater Philadelphia.
Written by Ireland Davies, the story traces how Juzang founded PSPA after recognizing the need for a unified network connecting Philadelphia’s student newsrooms.
“It was definitely a core goal of mine to create this organization where professional journalists are able to come into rooms with students and talk and meet,” Juzang said in the feature.
The article also highlighted PSPA’s momentum at the time, noting that the organization had already brought together 11 student newsrooms, including The Temple News, whose editor-in-chief expressed enthusiasm for cross-campus collaboration.
In the piece, Juzang and CCEM Director Letrell Crittenden discussed PSPA’s developing relationship with the Philadelphia Journalism Collaborative (PJC), a network of 30 local newsrooms committed to community-centered reporting. Leaders at PJC shared their support for PSPA’s mission and emerging mentorship opportunities.
