Join a School Newspaper

Campus newspapers are where student voices take shape. By joining, you’ll grow as a journalist and connect with a wider network of peers across Philadelphia.

Joining your campus newspaper is one of the most impactful ways to build your voice as a journalist. Student publications are not just classrooms for writing and reporting — they are training grounds for leadership, teamwork, and storytelling. Every article you publish adds to the historical record of your school while sharpening your ability to think critically and communicate clearly.

Through the Philadelphia Student Press Association, your work doesn’t stay on campus. You’ll connect with other student journalists across the city, share best practices, and collaborate on stories that reach beyond your school community. PSPA gives student reporters the resources and recognition they need to compete with established media outlets, ensuring your stories don’t just stay local, but resonate across Philadelphia.

Whether you want to cover breaking news, arts and culture, sports, or opinion, your campus paper offers a platform to experiment and grow. Combined with PSPA’s network, your newsroom experience can become a launching pad for internships, professional opportunities, and lifelong connections in the media world.

Note: If you’re interested in joining your school’s newspaper directly, please reach out to your campus publication. Each student newsroom has its own application or sign-up process. PSPA membership is designed to connect existing student journalists across schools, provide resources, and create citywide opportunities.
