PHILADELPHIA – September 13, 2025 – The Philadelphia Student Press Association (PSPA) announced today that Founder Jackson Juzang was recently featured in a new YouTube interview with Lawrence C. Harris, a youth empowerment speaker and creator focused on supporting teens and young adults through confidence-building and mental wellness.

In the 40-minute conversation, Juzang and Harris discuss the challenges and opportunities facing young people today—from navigating shifting career landscapes to confronting the impacts of AI, declining literacy, and fragmented media consumption.

Early in the interview, Juzang outlines PSPA’s mission to support student-run newsrooms across Greater Philadelphia by providing financial resources, professional mentorship, workshops, and internship pipelines. He highlights the organization’s rapid regional growth and its commitment to strengthening local student journalism through community-centered reporting and cross-campus collaboration.

The pair also explore the evolving state of journalism. Harris and Juzang reflect on the dominance of negative news, the rise of short-form attention spans, and the importance of spotlighting solutions-focused, youth-driven storytelling. Juzang emphasizes PSPA’s work in helping Gen Z media creators build confidence, curiosity, and stronger newsroom networks.

Throughout the discussion, both speakers encourage young people to step outside their comfort zones, pursue opportunities with intention, and resist the “us vs. them” mentality fostered by online spaces. They stress the importance of intellectual curiosity, cultural openness, and independent thinking—especially for college students entering creative fields.

Juzang also shares PSPA’s plans for future development, including new member schools, upcoming events, and expanded funding opportunities for student newsrooms in the region.

Harris closes the interview by reflecting on the impact of his advocacy work and the value of helping young people rediscover self-love and purpose—an outlook that aligns closely with PSPA’s mission to create a more connected, resilient generation of storytellers.
